how it works

EIWAZ TREE OF LIFE

YOUR MISSION is to rescue the dying MOTHER tree (nature). If you succeed a glowing seed will fall from the crown of the tree. By interacting with the seedling you can make the tree grow. If you do, a real (pre-funded) tree will be planted.

Following this you gain access to EDUCATIONAL tree planting information such as tree species to be planted, GPS locations, CO2 absorption and tree planting funding transparency adding a layer of LEARNING to the immersive climate impact experience.

ENGAGE. CO-CREATE. SHARE

Throughout the EIWAZ TREE OF LIFE AR experience you can capture photos and videos by tapping the eye icon in the bottom left corner.

In the PLAY ZONE of the virtual experience you can make your own EIWAZ TREE OF LIFE by using the size and colour sliders where you choose between various tree stages, scenes, materials and colours. here you’re encouraged to co-create and share your own version of EIWAZ TREE OF LIFE.

Why Mangroves

  • Mangrove trees absorb up to 3 times more CO2 than other rainforest trees.

  • Grows in saltwater, and protects coastal areas from extreme weather conditions such as typhoons.

  • Roots filter polluted water protecting seagrass and coral reefs.

  • Mangrove forests increase seafood production by up to 50% and are a crucial habitat to foster biodiversity for endangered animals and plant species.

  • Survival rate of each tree is 85%.

  • Mangrove trees protect the community from storm surge.

  • In Myanmar, in the Ayeyarwady Region, only 16% of the original Mangrove forest remains.

  • Planting Mangrove forests create local jobs both directly through breeding and planting, but also indirectly by strengthening the livelihoods of local communities.

  • ZSL Director of Conservation
    Dr Andrew Terry said:

“ZSL is working on one such project in the Philippines to restore mangrove forests, which act as vital coastal protection from typhoons, and provide important nursery grounds for many fish species. These lesser-known forests also provide far superior carbon capture compared to tropical rainforests due to their peaty soils, making them a real hero in the battle to fight global warming.
Every player of the EIWAZ TREE OF LIFE will help ZSL to restore 140,000 more mangrove trees in the Philippines.”

    Why Peatland trees

  • Borneo’s vast peatland forests are home to the world’s largest orangutan population.

  • One of the most important terrestrial carbon stores on the planet.

  • Replanting trees prevents soil erosion, restores wildlife habitats and reduces fire risks.

  • Economic and social benefits for indigenous communities.

  • Engages local communities in conservation. 8 community nurseries and 54 local families involved in the reforestation process.

  • Survival rate of each tree is 75% as well as performing well when planted on burnt areas.
